UPDATE 20th SEPTEMBER 2024
Bradford Deaf Centre have won the Knock Out Competition for the past 2 seasons, and are off to a flying start in this year's competition, with a 146 point victory at home to Pudsey this week. Pudsey started 140 points behind on handicap with none of their players having a higher handicap than his opponent. Sid Ash was the only Pudsey player to win by more than his handicap deficit and so Pudsey will be left looking for better in the return fixture next week. Jeremy Dixon and Richard Bowes scored 352 points between them, which was over 70 more than any other pair in either match
At Princeville it was a much closer affair, with the B team beating the A team by just 8 points. There ware only 4 points in it going into the final two games, in which I beat Chris Jarvis by 30, while Peter Turner lost to Edward Lawson by 26, thus doubling the B team's narrow advantage. Earlier in the evening Gareth Kershaw had got the A team off to a good start, with a 39 point victory over Graham Bentley (both players are on the same handicap). This pairs combined score plus handicap of 407 was the highest across both matches
The only significant break on the night was Richard Bowes 36 at the Deaf Centre. (I hope to post scorecard images in due course - if I can get my scanner talking to my computer!!)
This coming week (24th September) sees the reverse of this week's fixtures with another close encounter expected at Princeville, while Pudsey will have plenty to do against Bradford Deaf Centre if they are to secure the additional aggregate point on offer
