AGM JULY 2024 - MINUTES SUMMARY
12 players present and 2 apologies
Minutes of 2023 AGM read approved and signed. No matters arising
Treasurer reported a balance in hand of £78.79 with an engraving invoice still awaited (estimated at £25 approx.). This is an increase from £0.01 at the start of the season, mainly due to increases in entry fees. No further increases are proposed for the coming season
The secretary presented his report (see below).
The Chairman thanked Secretary, Treasurer and Auditor for their contribution to the smooth running of the league. All of them, together with the Chairman, were re-elected en bloc.
A number of questions, queries and suggestions were discussed as follows:
1. Selection of players to take part in the shoot out in the event of a 2 - 2 score line in the playoffs. Confirmed that this is always the two who have played in the last game (as it is guaranteed that they will be present at the end of the match).
2. Knock Out Competition to again be played at the start of the season. Agreed
3. Revert to 200 up format rather than 50 minute games. Discussed and eventually rejected as it could lead to very late finishes
4. Suggested competition using Modified Match Play (Short Format) Rule. (Normal baulk line rule not in play following 'a pot white'. Effectively Open Table). Agreed that this might be interesting variation but our calendar does not allow for another competition (Secretary has subsequently suggested that this could be a summer competition if there is sufficient interest. More details later).
5. Switch to Pro Cup Balls (white and yellow have multiple large red spots). This is an item on the agenda for the Pudsey League AGM and it was agreed that in order to retain uniformity we would follow whatever they decide (Subsequently agreed by Pudsey League)
6. Introduce an additional highest break prize for mid range handicaps. Agreed 3 prizes.
Handicap 35 and less
Handicap 40 to 80
Handicap 85 and above
For players 85 and above all breaks over 20 to be recorded on the scorecard. For all other players continue to record breaks of 30 and over
It was agreed that the season start on 17 September with the Knock Out Competition, in the same format as last season. League fixtures to start 29th October. No matches 24th and 31st December.
No changes to the league rules were proposed. However, if a match in the play offs ends 2 - 2, the shoot out will be best of 3 before going to sudden death, rather than a single attempt as last year. Players to take alternate shots. Agreed
Committee meeting booked for 28th August, venue for all meetings will now be Bradford Deaf Centre
The Chairman thanked all present for their attendance and contribution to the discussions
